Commodore Arup K Chakrabarti
Commodore AK Chakrabarti was commissioned into the Engineering Branch of the Indian Navy on 05 Dec 92. He is an alumnus of 5th Naval Engineering Course (NEC) and completed his B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering from Naval College of Engineering, INS Shivaji in 1993. He did his Marine Engineering Specialisation Course (MESC) from Centre of Marine Engineering Technology (CMET) in the year 1993-94 including Engine Room Watch Keeping onboard INS Ranvir. Further, the officer did his post-graduation (M.Tech) in System & Control Engineering from IIT Powai, Mumbai. Over the past 25 years of his naval service, he has served extensively at sea as Assistant Engineer Officer onboard INS Ranvir, Senior Engineer Officer onboard INS Ranjit and as Engineer Officer onboard INS Mumbai. Apart from his sea tenures, the officer has also carried out diverse ashore appointments viz., Instructor at the Centre of Marine Engineering Technology at INS Shivaji, Manager Production at INS Eksila and Senior Manager Capital Ships at Naval Dockyard Mumbai. He was appointed as the Officer-in-Charge Gas Turbine Testing & Tuning Team, Mumbai on promotion to the rank of Captain in 2012. He has attended the 12th Technical Management Course at the erstwhile Naval College of Warfare, Karanja, Mumbai. He is also an alumnus of the 9th Higher Defence Management Course at College of Defence Management, Secunderabad. On completion of HDMC in Apr 2014, the officer was appointed as a Director at the Directorate of Marine Engineering, IHQ MoD(Navy). The officer is at the helm of training department as Officer-in-Charge, CMET since 25 May 18.
