Eastern Naval Command organises Day at Sea

Over 2400 Vizagites, including Honarable Members of Parliament, Members of Legislative Assembly and Council, dignitaries from the Central and State Government, District Administration, GVMC, VUDA, Police Department, Visakhapatnam Port Trust, HPCL, Public Sector Undertakings and Media personnel sailed onboard Eastern Fleet ships on 17 April 2016, and witnessed various Naval exercises and drills at sea off Visakhapatnam.

Eight ships including the indigenous stealth frigate INS Satpura, fleet support ship INS Sakthi, Landing Platform Dock INS Jalashwa, Landing Ship Tank(Large) INS Airavat, Missile Corvettes IN Ships Kanjhar and Nishank, Inshore Support Vessels T-36, T-39 and submarine INS Sindhukirti of the Eastern Naval Command participated in the Event. Interacting with the media personnel onboard INS Satpura, Vice Admiral HCS Bisht, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief expressed Indian Navy's gratitude to the people of Vizag and all organisations in the City for their invaluable support and contribution towards the successful conduct of International Fleet Review organized in early February this year for the first time in the City of Destiny, Visakhapatnam.

The highlights of the Day at Sea included demonstration of an Asymmetric Threat, Search and Rescue (SAR) operation by Chetak helicopter, submarine diving and surfacing, slithering operations of Marine Commandos by Seaking 42C helicopter and high speed runs by Inshore Support Vessels.The spectators were enthralled by exhilarating aerobatic display by three Hawk Advanced Jet Trainer aircraft from Naval Air Station, INS Dega. Close Range Anti-aircraft firing and Underway Replenishment were also demonstrated during the sea sortie.
