Mount Deotibba Expedition-2018

An all women mountaineering expedition summited Mount Deotibba at 1300 hours on 10 June 2018. Mt Deotibba is the second highest peak situated at a height of 6,001 metres in the Pir-Panjal range in Himachal Pradesh. The expedition was flagged off on 28 May 2018 and was led by Lieutenant Commander Kokila Sajwan and the members comprised Lieutenant Commanders Nanadini Dam Roy, Seema Chaudhary, Pooja Sharma, Rekha Shree, Rashu Tyagi and Lieutenants Saino Wilson, Chamm Kumari, Surbhi Sharma, Shristi Thakur, Vipasha Sharma, Kritika Sharma and Surgeon Lieutenant Himwant Kaur. The team started the climb from Bara Hazari to the base camp at an altitude of 4,250 metres through Chikka and Seri and thereafter advanced towards the summit through the advance base camp at 4,700 metres and the summit camp at 5,250 metres. The team battled extreme weather conditions including whiteouts and heavy snowfall accompanied by strong winds during the expedition.
