Indian Navy Teams Continue with Flood Rescue Effort in Kolhapur and Sangli, Maharashtra

In Kolhapur about 1000 people including 600 women and 200 children were evacuated to safety from Chikhali village by 14 Navy rescue teams on 09 August 2019. Food and water was also provided to 250 homes. The teams have been detailed to undertake rescue operation in Shiroli village on 10 August 2019.

In Sangli, 12 Navy rescue teams evacuated about 850 people to safety and distributed food and water to about 250 homes on 09 August 2019.

A total of 26 Navy teams with 110 personnel and 26 boats with lifejackets have been deployed in Kolhapur and Sangli so far. The teams will continue to remain in the area till flood situation subsides and comes to normal. More naval teams will be deployed if required.
