27th Indo Thai Coordinated Patrol

INLCU L-51 visited Phuket, Thailand for the closing ceremony of the Indo-Thai Coordinated Patrol (CORPAT). The 27th edition of Indo-Thai CORPAT commenced at Port Blair with participation of INLCU L-51 and a Dornier aircraft from the Indian Navy  and HTMS Songkhla and  a Dornier aircraft from the Royal Thailand Navy. The objectives of the CORPAT are to ensure effective implementation of United Nations Conventions on Laws Of the Sea (UNCLOS), which specify regulations regarding protection and conservation of natural resources, conservation of the marine environment, prevention and suppression of illegal fishing activity, drug trafficking, piracy, exchange of information in prevention of smuggling and illegal immigration and conduct of Search and Rescue operations at sea. The CORPAT is truly reflective of the strong desire for a peaceful Indian Ocean safeguarded through good maritime order in the region. The ships and aircraft of the Indian Navy have been participating in the biannual CORPAT with the Royal Thai Navy since 2003.
