Tri-Services Workshop on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Big Data Analytics (BDA)

A maiden four day Tri-Services Workshop on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Big Data Analytics (BDA), was conducted from 27 to 30 November 2019 at INS Valsura, the premier Electrical training establishment of the Indian Navy, in consonance with the vision articulated by Ministry of Defence, Government of India (GoI).

Rear Admiral BR Taneja, NM (Retd.), Additional Secretary, GoI inaugurated the workshop over video conference. In his key note address the Admiral highlighted the capabilities of these niche technologies and elucidated the trajectory taken by the nation in AI and BDA. He complimented the Indian Navy for providing a suitable platform for the Armed Forces to interact with academia, industry and DRDO. A total of 45 officers from Army, Navy and Air Force participated in the workshop. Eminent speakers from IIT Gandhinagar, Dhirubhai Ambani Institute of Information and Communication Technology and Nirma University, along with industry experts from Microsoft, IBM, CSI, Capgemini and Deloitte participated in the workshop.

This workshop would give the desired impetus to the Indian Navy to further enhance incorporation of AI and BDA concepts in its operations and administration. As part of this evolution, training – in partnership with industry leaders and academia – would be conducted for creating a pool of data scientists.
