ADVENTURE HIKE TO GIRNAR

With an aim to foster spirit of adventure and develop leadership qualities, courage, 'espirit-de-corps' amongst naval personnel , the Indian Navy flagged off an adventure trek for 83 officers and sailors to Girnar ('city-on-the-hill') hills in the Junagadh district of Gujarat on 23 Mar 18. The adventure trek was organised in collaboration with the Gujarat State ministry for youth and cultural activity. All personnel halted for a night camp at Deendayal Upadhyaye Mountaineering training centre located at the base of Girnar hills, which is the highest mountain in Gujarat and completed the challenging climb of 10000 steps to the peak located at 3,383 feet on 24 and 25 Mar 18 in two groups. Besides testing their stamina and endurance, the team also raised awareness about Indian Navy amongst the local population.
