Rear Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi takes over as Eastern Fleet Commander

Rear Admiral B Dasgupta, YSM, VSM Flag Officer Commanding Eastern Fleet has handed over the Command of Eastern Fleet to Rear Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi, NM. The change of guard took place at an impressive ceremony held on 15 January 2018 in Naval Base, Visakhapatnam.

Rear Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi is a specialist in Communication and Electronic Warfare. He is an alumnus of National Defence Academy, Khadakwasla and graduate of  Defence Services Staff College, Wellington. He has also completed the Naval Higher Command Course and Naval Command College at the US Naval War College, Newport, Rhode Island where he won the prestigious Robert E Bateman International Prize.

His Sea commands include the stealth frigate INS Trishul and the indigenous built ships  INS Vinash and INS Kirch. His prestigious Staff and Operational appointments include those as the Fleet Operations Officer of the Western Fleet, Director of Naval Operations and Principal Director Network Centric Operations at Naval Headquarters. Prior taking over the command of the Eastern Fleet, the Flag Officer was serving as Assistant Chief of Naval Staff (Policy and Plans) at New Delhi.

Over the last 15 months, under the command of Rear Admiral B Dasgupta, the Eastern Fleet has maintained high levels of combat readiness and undertaken various operational missions including  provisioning of relief material to Bangladesh a very short notice, overseas deployments and exercises with foreign navies. His tenure also saw the commissioning of INS Kiltan, the latest ASW corvette of the Navy to join the Eastern Fleet.
