Passing Out Parade – 90th Integrated Officer Trainees’ Course

The Passing Out Parade of the 90th Integrated Officer Trainees’ Course was held at the Naval Base on 01 March 2018. A total of 144 officers successfully completed their ab initio training under the aegis of the Southern Naval Command. The 33 weeks Sub-Lieutenant (Technical) courses are coordinated by the Centre for Ethics Leadership and Behavioural Studies (CELABS) and the comprehensive professional and personality development curriculum comprises training in all naval disciplines.

During the Passing Out Parade, meritorious officers were felicitated with various awards and prizes. The Chief of the Naval Staff Gold, Silver and Bronze Medals, awarded to the officers standing first, second and third in the Sub Lt (Afloat) phase were awarded to Sub Lieutenant S Sarath Kumar, Sub Lieutenant Suyash Malviya and Sub Lieutenant Aby Mathews respectively. Sub Lieutenant Suyash Malviya was also awarded the Sword of Honour for being adjudged first in Officer Like Qualities. The Chief of the Naval Staff Trophy with book prize was awarded to Sub Lieutenant Vidit Bhoj (08456–T) for standing first in overall order of merit, while the Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Southern Naval Command, Trophy with book prize was awarded to Sub Lieutenant Abhimanyu Dabas (08705-H) for standing 2nd in the overall order of merit. The Admiral Ram Das Katari Trophy with silver medal was awarded to Sub Lieutenant S Malviya (08678–T) for standing first in overall order of merit from induction to completion of ab initio training.

Rear Admiral RJ Nadkarni, VSM, Chief of Staff, Southern Naval Command was the Chief Guest on the occasion. He gave away the prizes, congratulated the young officers on completion of their training phase and exhorted them to aspire towards maintaining highest standards of professionalism as well as upholding the Navy’s core values of Duty, Honour and Courage.
