New Fire Fighting Training Facility, 'Adaahya' Inaugurated at Seamanship School, Kochi

A new Fire Fighting Training Facility (FFTF), named 'Adaahya' was inaugurated at Seamanship School, Kochi by Rajesh Kumar, MCPOAF II, in the presence of Vice Admiral V Srinivas, FOCINC, SNC on 03 May 24. Adaahya meaning 'One which cannot be burnt', is designed to train personnel on various aspects of firefighting onboard ships and helicopters. The state of the art simulator will provide a realistic and controlled environment for all trainees to train in firefighting, enhance their skills on fire suppression techniques and handling contingencies during fire. The training simulator can handle more than 4000 trainees annually with an average class strength of approx 35-40 trainees. The simulator is a three deck structure with mock up models of ship's compartments such as Engine Room, Machinery Control Room, Galley and living spaces. The simulator also houses a mock-up model of helo, where helo firefighting can be exercised. The simulator has been built, with over 90% indigenous components boosting the vision of Aatmanirbharta in defence.
