Medical Camp organised at Yarada Village by Indian Navy

As part of 56th Anniversary Celebrations of INHS Kalyani, a free Medical Camp was organised at Govt. School in Yarada Village, Vishakhapatnam on 05 May 2018 from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm. The camp was aimed at identifying early stages of chronic diseases by providing comprehensive health check-up and to distribute basic medicines to the needy.

The medical camp held as a part of outreach program under the aegis of ENC covered the fields of Medical, Pediatrics, Dermatology, Dental, Ophthalmology, general OPD and on-the-spot laboratory investigations coordinated by Surgeon Commodore A Karmarkar, Commanding Officer INHS Kalyani with a team of 13 Medical Officers and other supporting paramedical staff.

The camp had an overwhelming response and local residents benefited with the medical services like ECG and CSR Lab facilities provided in the camp. Reviewing the medical camp, Vice Admiral MS Pawar, AVSM, VSM Chief of Staff ENC interacted with residents of the villages and emphasised on the advantages of prevention rather than cure of the chronic diseases.

He said that residents of Yerada and the ENC being neighbours had a symbiotic relationship and requested the locals to be alert watchkeepers of coastal security. He urged the fisher folk  to report any suspicious activity at sea or along the coast.

On the sidelines of the medical camp, personnel from INHS Kalyani cleaned the school premises and surrounding area as part of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. Staff from Station Health Organisation carried out disinfection by spraying insecticides in the surrounding to prevent vector borne diseases. The locals were highly appreciative of the care they received.
