Maritime Wing of Visakha Museum rededicated to the People of Visakhapatnam

The maritime wing of Visakha Museum was rededicated on 27 Feb 16 to the people of Visakhapatnam by Vice Admiral Satish Soni, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Eastern Naval Command. The Visakha Maritime Museum set up in 2004 at Beach Road, Visakhapatnam is aimed to serve as a source of information on Indianâs vast Maritime Heritage.

The Maritime Wing of the museum has been renovated jointly by Eastern Naval Command and GVMC with the addition of several new artefacts to the existing inventory. Ship models of INS Visakhapatnam, INS Sumedha and INS Kamorta, along with Indian Naval Sailing Vessels Sudarshini, Mhadei and HMS Trincomalee have been added. In addition, a model of the latest Scorpene class submarine Kalveri is also on display.

The aviation section has been given a totally new appearance with the addition of aircraft models like Chetak, Kamov etc. The other significant changes include the new entrance with aqua theme corridor and the latest collection of maritime themed souvenirs received from Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India.
