Major General Somnath Jha (Retd.) on 12,000 KM Cycling Mission arrived at Indian Naval Academy, Ezhimala

Major General Somnath Jha (Retd.) VSM, who is on a 12,000 Km cycling mission across the length and breadth of the country as a tribute to all martyred heroes of the nation arrived at Indian Naval Academy (INA), Ezhimala on 08 February 2017.

Major General Somnath Jha (Retd.) VSM, who is on a 12,000 Km cycling mission across the length and breadth of the country as a tribute to all martyred heroes of the nation arrived at INA, Ezhimala

He was received at INA by Rear Admiral MD Suresh NM, Deputy Commandant, INA and Commodore Kamlesh Kumar, Station Commander, Ezhimala. Major General Somnath Jha (Retd.) VSM, placed a wreath at ‘Prerna Sthal’ War memorial and observed two minutes silence.

The General, during his interaction with the cadets, serving naval personnel and defence civilian of the station reiterated that the decision to cycle 12,000 Km was a personal homage to over 20,600 fallen heroes who made selfless sacrifice defending the honour of the motherland. His decision to cycle two minutes for each fallen hero would take him to a distance of 12,000 Km covering all states of the country over a period of seven months.

Major General Somnath Jha (Retd.) VSM, placed a wreath at ‘Prerna Sthal’ War memorial and observed two minutes silence

Major General Somnath Jha (Retd.) VSM, was formally briefed on the training process, training facilities at INA, Ezhimala and was also taken around the training facilities. A formal dinner in honour of the visiting General hosted by the Deputy Commandant INA was scheduled later in the evening.

Major General Somnath Jha (Retd.) VSM, proceeded from INA on 09 February 2017 for his onward journey to Kanhangad, Kerala. He was escorted and accompanied till Payyanur by enthusiastic cadets and naval personnel of the station.
