Indian Navy Mountaineers successfully summit Mount Mukut (East) (7135M)
Indian Navy mountaineers led by Surgeon Commander Iyamanda B Udaya successfully summited Mount Mukut (East) (7135M) on 26 Sep 16 at about 1315h. The Indian Navy climbers were amongst the very few mountaineers to successfully climb Mt Mukut. Mt Mukut is rarely frequented due to its steep climb, remoteness and unforgiving terrain features.

It is considered to be one of the toughest climbable mountains in the world. Ten out of fourteen members of the team summited the challenging peak. The team members were felicitated by the Chief of Personnel Vice Admiral AK Chawla, AVSM, NM, VSM during the flag in ceremony held on 05 Oct 16 at 1530h. The expedition was coordinated by WNC/HQMNA. The mission marks yet another triumph in the series of eight expeditions conducted during 2015-2016 in the run up to Naval Everest mission 2017.
