IFR-16 Curtain Raiser of Wreath Laying Ceremony​

IFR activities will be kick started by the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Shri N Chandrababu Naidu paying homage to the martyrs of the War Memorial on Thursday, 04 February 2016.   Admiral RK Dhowan, the Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Satish Soni, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief and Commanding Officers of visiting foreign naval ships will also lay wreaths at this War Memorial as a mark of respect to fallen heroes. 

The memorial, built jointly by the Indian Navy and the Government of Andhra Pradesh is a befitting homage to mark the devotion to duty and sacrifice of the worthy sons of the nation which led to the ultimate Victory at Sea. This awe inspiring memorial, along with its beautiful gardens and war relics draws huge crowd and is a reminder to the public of the heroic efforts and the sacrifice that their brethren made for the country. 

The structure was inaugurated by His Excellency, The Governor of Andhra Pradesh on 10 Dec 1996 and has since then established itself as landmark in this port city and is thronged by localities and visitors. The Memorial with its war artefacts and serene atmosphere stands testimony to the valour of its men in uniform.
