Day at Sea for School Children and Media

Over 3000 Vizagites, including 2400 school children and Media personnel, Senior Citizens, members of the Veteran Sailors Forum (VSF) and the Navy Foundation sailed onboard Eastern Fleet ships today, 25 November 2016, and witnessed various Naval exercises and drills at sea off Visakhapatnam.

Six ships of the Eastern Fleet including the fleet support ship and oil-tanker INS Shakti, stealth frigates IN Ships Satpura, Shivalik, guided missile destroyer INS Ranvijay, stealth ASW corvette INS Kadmatt, missile corvettes IN Ships Kora, Khanjar, off-shore patrol vessel INS Sukanya and one submarine participated in the event held as a part of the Navy Week activities. 04 In-shore Support Vessels (ISVs) Interacting to the media personnel onboard the Flag Ship INS Shakti, Rear Admiral B Dasgupta, Flag Officer Commanding Eastern Fleet highlighted on all activities planned for the Navy Week 2016.

The important activities of the Day at Sea include demonstration of asymmetric threat, Search and Rescue (SAR) by Chetak helicopter and sonar dunking by Kamov helicopter. Underway Replenishment was also demonstrated during the sea sortie. The spectators were enthralled by high speed low altitude fly past by three Hawk fighter aircraft from INS Dega along with Dornier and Long Range MR aircraft P8I.
