Chief of the Naval Staff Presides Over Valedictory Function of Higher Defence Management Course at College of Defence Management

A total number of 154 Tri-services and foreign Armed Forces officers successfully completed Higher Defence Management Course (HDMC) Serial 14 at College of Defence Management (CDM), Secunderabad. Admiral Sunil Lanba, Chairman, Chiefs of Staff Committee and Chief of Naval Staff presided over the Valedictory Function held today and felicitated the officers. The graduating officers will soon be taking up challenging command and staff assignments.

HDMC is the flagship course held at CDM, Secunderabad, wherein 154 select officers of the rank of Colonel and equivalent from three services of Armed Forces and friendly foreign countries undergo an intensive 44 week curriculum.

On successful completion of the course the participant officers were awarded degree in Masters of Management Studies (MMS) from Osmania University, Hyderabad and a Certificate of Advance Course in Management by the All India Management Association (AIMA). The graduating officers included 11 officers from friendly foreign countries. The international participant officers represented Bangladesh, Bhutan, China, Mozambique, Nigeria, Papua New Guinea (PNG), Philippines, Sri Lanka, Uganda and Vietnam.

In his welcome address Major General Sandeep Sharma, Commandant,  CDM thanked the Flag Officer for accepting the invite to be the Chief Guest for the Valedictory Function, being the senior most alumnus of this premier institute. He highlighted the activities of concluding academic year and complimented the participant officers for their credible performance.

While delivering the Valedictory Address, Admiral Sunil Lanba said that the participants had gained deep understanding in subjects like Net Assessment, Financial Management, Operations Research and Project Management. The knowledge combined with rich field experience of past would be of great use in their future appointments at various Headquarters and formations. The college curriculum takes inter-service synergy to new levels and the Admiral exhorted the participants to continue with that spirit of jointness.

During the Valedictory Function Colonel SK Yadav was awarded for standing first in Master of Management Studies (MMS) as well as overall best performance on Higher Defence Management Course Serial 14 whereas Lieutenant Colonel Samten Cheynor from Bhutan was awarded for being most promising international participant.

CDM, Secunderabad is a premier tri-services institution acknowledged as Centre of Excellence for imparting training in Defence Management   to the future leadership of Armed Forces. The course curriculum covers various management subjects related to Behavioural Science, Decision Science, Resource Management and Research Methodology. The college has made significant strides in aligning and integrating latest management tools and techniques with operational planning.
