In commemoration of the 74th Independence Day of India, a wreath laying ceremony was held at the Indian Naval Academy, Ezhimala on 15 August 2020. The Commandant, Vice Admiral M A Hampiholi, AVSM, NM laid a floral wreath at ‘Prerna Sthal’- the War memorial of INA, in homage to the martyrs of our nation which was followed by a two minutes’ silence to honour the sacrifice of every soldier, known and unknown, in the service of the nation.

The Independence Day Parade for any Armed Forces Academy is a solemn occasion usually conducted with grandeur and sheen witnessed by civilian fraternity, families of INA and dignitaries. However, owing to COVID-19 pandemic, the parade was curtailed and only wreath laying ceremony was conducted adhering to the safety protocols.
