Flag in Ceremony : Maha-Navy Connect 2020

An expedition to promote the Maritime Heritage of India and spread awareness about Coastal Security amongst the  communities in coastal Maharashtra was undertaken by the Indian Navy from Arnala fort, the northern most sea fort of Maharashtra to Sindhudurg fort, the southern-most fort of the state from 05 to 11 January 2020. Director General Naval Projects at Mumbai felicitated the expedition partners and the Team Captains at a ceremony held at INS Kunjali, Mumbai on 23 January 2020.The tri-dimensional expedition consisted of yachting, running and cycling teams of 50 naval personnel along three different axes. The teams undertook community interaction and out-reach programme with school students, locals and fishermen highlighting the importance of coastal security, maritime heritage around 70 locations winning more than 10,000 hearts over these six days.Promoting Swachha Bharat and Fit India movement, enroute, the teams touched upon Arnala, Kanhoji Angre (Khanderi), Revdanda, Korlai, Murud-Janjira, Raigad, Suvarnadurg, Jaigad, Ratnadurg, Purnagad, Vijaydurg, Devgad and Sindhudurg forts. The expedition was very well received by the locals along these three axes; where students, NCC and NSS cadets enthusiastically participated in the cleanship drives along with the naval teams.The Navy aims to make this activity an annual event with wider participation in the 2021 edition.
