World Environment Day Celebrated at Indian Naval Academy, Ezhimala

World Environment Day was celebrated at Indian Naval Academy, Ezhimala with an overwhelming participation from naval community and School Children on 05 June 2019.  The event was marked by planting 1200 saplings at various locations within the naval station. The tree plantation on this occasion marks the start of a continuous initiative  that  will culminate into a major afforestation drive targeting  30,000 saplings during the monsoon, which will enrich the biodiversity of the Naval Academy. Vice Admiral RB Pandit, AVSM, Commandant, INA inaugurated the event. The plants/ sapling comprise a wide variety including fruit bearing, indigenous trees, medicinal plants, herbal plants and decorative plants that were planted. A nature walk was also organised for the students of Kendirya Vidyalaya on the occasion.  The event would enhance the green cover, and help in preserving the ‘Pristine Air quality and rich flora’ inside the naval station and  its adjoining areas.
