Naval Operational Demonstration Mesmerises Vizagites

On the occasion of the Navy Day, the Eastern Naval Command conducted a naval ‘Operational Display’ at RK Beach Visakhapatnam on 04 December 2018. The event highlighted multi-dimensional warfare capabilities of the Indian Navy in protecting the vast maritime borders and offshore assets of the country. Shri N Chinarajappa, Honourable Deputy Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh was the Chief Guest and Dr K Haribabu Member of Parliament the Guest of Honour for the display. A large number of dignitaries from Central and State Administration, Officers, Sailors and Defence Civilians from the Indian Navy and a large crowd of civil populace witnessed the event. The demonstration included helicopters landing and taking off from moving column of IN ships Ranvir, Satpura, Khanjar and Kadmatt, Search and Rescue capabilities of UH3H helicopter, insertion of a team of MARCOS by slithering operation, which was followed by beach assault and amphibious landing on the beach front by naval vessels using multiple landing craft. The MARCOS thereafter displayed a wide range of combat capabilities, including extraction by Seaking helicopter and clandestine sabotage operations by detonating explosive charges on a simulated oil rig. A formation of various types of aircraft from the ENC and IAF Su-30s took to the skies in an enthralling and scintillating flypast closely followed by a spectacular Bomb Burst Manoeuvre by the Hawk Advanced Jet Trainers. The display culminated with the ‘Beating Retreat’ ceremony performed by Naval Band and silhouette illumination by Eastern Fleet ships.
