Indian Naval Ships Tarkash and Kolkata Visit Simons Town, South Africa

Indian Naval Ships Tarkash and Kolkata are on a visit to Simons Town, South Africa for the sixth edition of IBSAMAR, a joint Multi – National Maritime Exercise between the Indian, Brazilian and South African Navies. As part of the harbour phase, the operations teams from the IN Ships participated in discussions held at Maritime Warfare Training Centre towards finalisation of plans for the exercise. VBSS teams of IN Ships visited South African Naval Maritime Warfare Training Centre for simulated firing of R5 weapon used by the South African Navy and SA Navy Marines. IN personnel visited South African Ships Protea and Amatola. Deck familiarisation of Brazilian and South African aircrew was conducted onboard INS Tarkash. A medical team from South Africa Defense Medical Health Services visited INS Kolkata and demonstrated the use of stretchers in case of an air evacuation. Participating navies also conducted professional lectures on United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon, Lessons learnt-HADR Ops and Politics and Economics in the Indian Ocean Rim. In addition, Brigadier General Gustav Lategan, Director Joint Force Preparation and Training, South Africa visited INS Kolkata. The IN Ships were open to visitors and personnel from South African Navy and Dockyard visited the ships.
