RESERVATION OF SEATS FOR WARDS OF ESM IN PROFESSIONAL COLLEGES

1. During the last meeting of Kendriya Sainik Board held on 29 May 2003, all the Central and State Universities and professional institutes were requested to make provision for reservation for widows/wives/wards of Armed Forces personnel and ESM and fill up the reserved seats strictly in accordance with priorities laid down by MoD for reservations of seats under the Defence category. It was generally felt that the Central as well as the State Universities and the professional institutes were not making 5% reservations for dependents of Defence personnel and also not filling them up as per under mentioned priorities laid down by MoD for reservation of seats under Defence category:-

(a) Widows/wards of Defence personnel killed in action.

(b) Wards of serving personnel and ex-servicemen disabled in action and boarded out from service.

(c) Widows/Wards of Defence personnel who die in service with death attributable to military service.

(d) Wards of Defence personnel disabled in service and boarded out with disability attributable to military service.

(e) Wards of ex-servicemen and serving personnel who are in receipt of Gallantry Awards.

(f) Wards of ex-servicemen.

(g) Wards of serving personnel.

2. The details of reservations made in professional colleges by different States/UTs are shown in succeeding pages. The States/UTs are requested to ensure provision of at least 5% reservation in their professional institutions and fill them up as per the 7 priorities highlighted above. Only through this the complete benefit of reservation could be extended to the ESM community.
