Conditions of Eligibility

Awarded for such individual acts of exceptional devotion to duty or courage as have special significance for the Navy. Awards may be made posthumously.

A bar shall be given for every subsequent award of the medal to a person.

Eligible Categories

All ranks of the Navy.

Monetary Allowance: Rs 1000/- pm and each bar to the medal Rs 1000/- pm to all Nao Sena Medal (Gallantry) awardees.

Design of the Medal and Riband

Medal Pentagular in shape, with curved sides made of standard silver. The mounting shall be a fixed ring attached to a metal stripe 3mm wide ornamented with Ashoka Leaves. It shall have embossed on its obverse the Naval Crest. On its reverse, it shall have a trident within a circle and rope and the inscription embossed along the upper rim.

Riband Navy blue colour with a white thin silver stripe down the centre.
