Director General Medical Services (Navy)

Surg VAdm Arti Sarin, AVSM, VSM is an alumnus of the Armed Forces Medical College and was commissioned in Army Medical Corps on 26th Dec 1985. She is an MD in Radio Diagnosis from Armed Forces Medical College, Pune in 1992 and DNB in Radiation Oncology from the prestigious TATA Memorial Hospital, Mumbai in 2004.

She is an experienced and reputed Radiologist, Radiation Oncologist and Hospital Administrator in the Armed Forces Medical Services. Trained in Gamma knife surgery at the University of Pittsburgh, USA she was instrumental in the setup and functioning of the Department at Army Hospital (Research & Referral).

During her career spanning over 37 years, the Flag Officer has held several prestigious academic and administrative appointments including Consultant (Radiology & Radiation Oncologist) at CH (SC) Pune.

She has been awarded several commendation by Chief of the Army Staff, Chief of the Naval Staff, GOC-in-Chief and most recently with the presidential award of VSM in the year 2021 in recognition of her dedication to patient care.

Her special area of interests is Gamma knife Surgery, Neuro Oncology and Hospital Administration. She has been a recognized Post Graduate teacher of Mumbai/Pune/Maharashtra University of Health Science, Nasik Universities for the MD Radiology and DNB Radiation Oncology. She has several publications in Indian and International journals and has also contributed to Chapters in Books of Liver Disease and assisted Reproduction. She has also a recognized examiner of Maharashtra University of Health Science (MUHS) Nasik and National Board of Examinations.

In the Long Naval Career, she has done tenures at NSTL (DRDO) Visakhapatnam, Naval Hospitals Dhanvantari at Port Blair, INHS Kalyani at Visakhapatnam, INHS Sanjivani at Kochi and INHS Asvini at Mumbai. She has served as Professor and Head of Radiation Oncology at Army Hospital (R&R) Delhi, Command Hospital/ AFMC Pune Complex and INHS Asvini. Her Administrative include Senior Registrar (Medical Supdt) INHS Asvini, Principal Medical Officer Naval Dockyard (Mumbai) , Command Medical Officer (Southern Naval Command), Commanding Officer INHS Asvini, Command Medical Officer (Western Naval Command), Director & Commandant, Armed Forces Medical College, Pune and Director General Medical Services (Air).She has taken over as DGMS (Navy) on 21 Mar 2023.

Prior to assuming the appointment of DGMS (Air) on 10 Jan 2023, the Flag Officer was Director & Commandant of Armed Forces Medical College, Pune. During her tenure the institution excelled exemplary in academics, research & extra-curricular activities with establishment of centre for preventive oncology, MoUs with premier institutions for collaboration in biomedical research and innovation in health care planning.

The Flag Officer has a special interest in participation in activities towards motivation of the youth both girls and boy towards a career in the Armed Forces.

Her husband, Surg Rear Admiral C Sudeep Naidu, AVSM, VSM (Retd) is a Hepatobiliary Surgeon and was the pioneer of the successful Liver Transplant Surgery program at AH (R&R), New Delhi. Her son Rohan is a graduate in Business Management and German language specialist working with World Network Systems at Pune.
