Director General Medical Services (Navy)

Surgeon Vice Admiral MV Singh, AVSM, PHS is an alumnus of MLN Medical College, Allahabad and was commissioned in Air Force in 1983. He did his MD (PSM) in 1990 from AFMC Pune.

During his 35 years of service, the Flag Officer has held various important Administrative and Staff appointments like OIC SHO at Air Force Academy, SMO of fighter and transport bases, Dy PMO of CAC & EAC, PMO of CAC & TC, PDMS (P) at Air HQ, Commandant CHAF Bengaluru and Commandant, AMC Centre & College & OIC Records.

He is the senior most serving Community Medicine Specialist in the Armed Forces. He has been Senior Advisor Community Medicine for CAC, EAC & MC. A specialist trained by WHO in Malariology, he spearheaded the vector control programme in the IAF over the last two decades. He also passionately implemented the Alcohol Abuse Control programme, Obesity Control programme, Suicide Prevention Programmed and CBRN training in the IAF. He has also presented papers in various national and international conferences. In recognition of his professional expertise, the Air Officer was selected to represent Indian’s viewpoint on Pandemic Influenza at Hawaii, USA in 2010.

The Flag Officer assumed appointment of Director General Medical Services (Navy) on 10 June 2019. Prior to assuming the present appointment, the Flag Officer held the appointment of Commandant, AMC Centre & College & OIC records.

For his outstanding and meritorious service, sterling qualities of industriousness towards achieving set targets and ability to perform with distinction in diverse fields, he was awarded CAS Commendation in 2011 and Ati Vishist Seva Medal in 2019 and appointed as Honorary Surgeon to The President of India w.e.f. 01 Jun 19.

Dr (Mrs) Archana Singh, spouse, is an Associate Professor of Sanskrit at Allahabad University and they are blessed with two daughters, Abhidha & Alankrita.
