Chief of Materiel (COM)

Vice Admiral Kiran Deshmukh assumed charge as Chief of Materiel on 01 Jan 24. He was commissioned as an Engineer Officer into the Indian Navy on 31 Mar 1986.

The Flag Officer has held various challenging appointments during his distinguished and illustrious service of 37 years. His afloat appointments include tenures on-board frontline warships such as Ranvir, Delhi and INS Tabar.

The Admiral has experience in a plethora of fields having served in Directorate of Ship Production, Personnel & Marine Engineering at NHQ, Trial agencies, Materiel Organisation, Naval Dockyard and Command Staff at HQENC.

On attaining the Flag rank he was entrusted with the coveted duties of Assistant Chief of Materiel (Dockyards & Refits) and Assistant Chief of Materiel (Modernisation) at Naval Headquarters and thereafter as Chief Staff Officer (Tech) at HQENC from where he was appointed as Admiral Superintendent of Naval Dockyard, Visakhapatnam. On completion of his tenure as Admiral Superintendent of Naval Dockyard he was promoted to the rank of Vice Admiral and appointed as Director General Naval Projects at Visakhapatnam and thereafter as Controller Warship Production & Acquisition at Naval Headquarters.

He is a recipient of the Vishisht Seva Medal and Ati Vishisht Seva Medal for his distinguished service.
