Special Children and Senior Citizens Visit Naval Base, Kochi

As part of Navy Week-2019 activities, Special Children, and Senior Citizens of Kochi Area were hosted at naval base Kochi on 13 November 2019. About 60 children as well as 25 staff members from various special schools and approximately 50 Senior Citizens were provided a glimpse of activities at Naval Base through a guided tour which lasted more than three hours.

The visitors were taken on-board and conducted around Indian Naval Ships Sunayna and Shardul. Besides the visit to ships, a naval exhibition and screening of a film on Indian Navy were organised for the visitors. The children and the senior citizens also witnessed a precisely executed ‘Continuity Drill’ performed by the naval personnel from the gunnery training establishment of Southern Naval Command (SNC), INS Dronacharya, who executed a series of intricate drill manoeuvres in perfect timing with each other, without a single word of command.

The visit, which was organized under the aegis of HQSNC in coordination with “Aashirwad” group of Navy wives’ welfare association, Southern region was as much a window into the naval life for the visitors as an opportunity for naval personnel to explore their softer side.
