Blood Donation Camp Organised at INS Dega, Eastern Naval Command

A Blood Donation Camp was organised at INS Dega as part of the Navy Day Celebrations at Visakhapatnam on 01 October 2019. Surgeon Commodore Shankar Narayan, Commanding Officer INHS Kalyani inaugurated the camp which had an overwhelming volunteer response from naval personnel. 83 units of blood were collected during the event. The donated blood was handed over to NTR Trust Blood Bank, Visakhapatnam which was associated with the conduct of the camp.

Speaking on the occasion, Commodore Shankar Narayan stressed the need to build awareness about voluntary blood donation and highlighted that each unit of blood can be separated into its components thereby multiplying the number of lives saved. He also highlighted the importance of blood donation and spoke on the myths related to it.
