Indian Naval Teams Mobilised to Provide Assistance in Flood Affected Areas in Kolhapur and Sangli Districts
Five rescue teams of the Indian Navy were mobilised on 06 August 2019 for Kolhapur and Sangli districts in response to a State Administration request for assistance to populace affected by heavy rains. Adverse weather precluded airlift and the teams proceeded from Mumbai to Pune by road, equipped with rescue gear and rubber inflatable boats. They will be airlifted to affected areas as requested by the State Administration. In addition, four teams of naval divers from Goa are also deployed for rescue operations at Kolhapur. These rescue teams, along with diving equipment were airlifted on 07 August 2019 where they joined with other naval and NDRF teams. Five Navy flood relief teams are also being prepared to be airlifted to the affected areas from Mumbai on 07 August 2019.
