Chilka Lake Mouth Sailing Expedition - Batch 01/2019 Conducted at INS Chilka

200 Trainees of 01/2019 Batch participated in the ‘Long Distance-High Endurance - Chilka Lake Mouth Sailing Expedition’ conducted at INS Chilka from 05 to 06 July 2019. The expedition was aimed to inculcate a spirit of adventure, esprit-de-corps and perseverance. The expedition provided the trainees an unique experience of undertaking sailing expedition in a ‘Whaler' Boat, to hone their boat handling and sailing skills, enhance their practical knowledge of seamanship and also test their physical and mental endurance. The Expedition covered a distance of 84 kms starting from Watermanship Training Centre, INS Chilka to Satpada and back via Nalaban Island. A Camp was set up at halfway point at Satpada, wherein the trainees participated in various camp activities as well as a cultural programme. The trainees also carried out a ‘Cleanup Drive’ of Chilka Lake Mouth Beach in-keeping with 'Swachh Bharat Campaign'.
