Varuna Harbour Phase End

As the harbour phase of Exercise Varuna 2019 came to a close, the Force Commanders from both navies issued a joint press statement on 06 May 2019. From the Indian side, Flag Officer Commanding Western Fleet said that the Varuna series of exercises are one of the most important bilateral exercise the Indian Navy participates in and this year is the largest ever participation with two aircraft carriers and submarines taking part. The French Force Commander said that the Varuna exercise this year has raised the interoperability to the highest level with participation of 11 frontline units including aircraft carriers and submarines in all three dimensions viz. sub-surface, surface and air. He said that Ex Varuna is the climax of the strengthened maritime cooperation between the two countries. Earlier, Rear Admiral Olivier Lebas, Commander Air Sea Rapid Task Force of the French Navy called on Flag Officer Commanding Goa Area on 05 May 2019.
