Passing Out of Naval Apprentices – NSRY (Kochi)

The 45th and 46th batch of Naval Apprentices passed out from Apprentice Training School, Naval Ship Repair Yard on 12 October 2018. The passing out function was presided over by Rear Admiral SN Alamanda, VSM, Admiral Superintendent of the Yard. A total of 75 apprentices, covering 13 trades, passed out and are now ready for employment in various industries to showcase their skills. The next batch of apprentices would join on 15 October 2018.

The apprentices successfully completed one year and two years training courses from four Electrical trades, namely Electrician, Electronic Mech, COPA, Electroplater; five Engineering trades namely, Fitter, Machinist, Turner, MRAC & Plumber; and four Constructional trades namely, MMV, Foundryman, Welder and Painter. During the course of their training, they were given hands on practical experience in various shop floors and naval ships. To give an exposure to the working environment and methodology of other industries, an industrial visit was organised to Kerala Agro Machineries Corporation at Athani and Modern Food Industries. Equal focus was given to both academic as well as physical training, through regularly conducted practical examinations, projects and extracurricular activities viz. inter divisional sports, cultural activities and competitions.
