Indian Navy joins Relief Operations in Severe Cyclone Titli affected Areas

The IndianNavy joined Relief Operations in areas affected Severe Cyclone Titli. Diving Teams with Gemini boats and associated diving equipment, which were pre-positioned at INS Chilka on 11 October 2018 were immediately deployed for rescue operations at Gopalpur District. A Seaking helicopter was launched from INS Dega to Srikakulam on 12 October 2018 for air-drop of food packets and relief material in affected areas. The helicopter also took a Diving Team with associated equipment. Two Chetak helicopters are also being deployed to Asika Village at the confluence of Rushikulya and Bara Rivers in Behrampur, Odisha. A Dornier aircraft undertook aerial survey of the affected area on 11 October 2018 to identify flooded areas and handed over the photographs with coordinates to the District Administration. INS Ranvijay has been diverted to arrive off Srikakulam by PM 12 October 2018 to provide support for helicopter operations in the area.
