SNC Conducts Coastal Security Seminar for Various Port Authorities

A two-day training seminar on coastal security was conducted at Naval Base, Kochi for Port Officers and Supervisors, Lighthouse Keepers and Naval Reporting Officers of Kerala and Lakshadweep & Minicoy Islands on 09 and 10 October 2018. The annual training seminar is aimed at exposing civilian personnel, who form an invaluable and inseparable part of the overall coastal security organisation of the State, to aspects of coastal security and coastal defence. The seminar included interactive sessions, covering both theoretical and practical aspects of coastal security. The participants were trained on topics such as recognition of ships, submarines and aircraft, threats to coastal security, as well as resources available with the armed forces and civil agencies to counter these threats. The seminar also included a diving demonstration and practical class on recognition of floats and diving craft at the Diving School, as well as visits to INS Dronacharya, the Naval Coast Battery, and the Regional Operations Centre of the Coast Guard at Fort Kochi.
