Controller of Warship Production & Acquisition (CWP&A)

Vice Admiral Dinesh Mukund Deshpande, AVSM, VSM is an alumnus of the National Defence Academy and was commissioned into the Indian Navy in 1980. 

He has served onboard IN ships, Nilgiri, Vindhyagiri, Godavari and Ganga in various capacities. His ashore tenure include Fleet Engineer Officer of the Western Fleet. He has served in the Eastern Naval Command, Visakhapatnam and at Naval Headquarters, New Delhi, wherein he has handled production and acquisition functions of ships and submarines. The Admiral has also commanded INS Shivaji at Lonavla, and has undergone the prestigious National Defence College Course.

As a Flag Officer, he has served as the Director General of the Scorpene Submarine Project, Admiral Superintendent Dockyard, Naval Dockyard, Mumbai and Director General Naval Projects, Visakhapatnam.

The Admiral has been awarded Commendation by the Chief of the Naval Staff and  Vice Chief of Naval Staff on two occasions each, and is a recipient of Ati Vishisht Seva Medal  and Vishisht Seva Medal for distinguished service.  

The Admiral is a keen sportsman and has represented Indian Navy in Tennis, Squash, Cricket and Hockey and has participated in adventure sports, representing the country in Hang gliding. He is also an avid golfer.

He is married to Mrs Anjali Deshpande and they have a son and a daughter.
