1 TS Ship Visit Jakarta, Indonesia

Indian Naval Ships Tir, Sujata, Sudarshini, Shardul and Indian Coast Guard Ship Sarathi are on a visit to Jakarta, Indonesia. The visit is aimed to expose trainees to conduct of Indian warships in foreign waters, port familiarisation and foster ‘bridges of friendship’ between the two countries. The ships were accorded a traditional welcome by the Indonesian Navy on arrival at Jakarta. The visit of the ships coincides with the visit of Vice Admiral AR Karve, AVSM, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Southern Naval Command, the training Command of the Indian Navy.

Vice Admiral AR Karve called on Vice Admiral ADE Taufiq R, Vice Chief of Staff, Indonesian Navy, Air Marshal Hadiyan Sumintaatmaja, Secretary General to the Ministry of Defence, Mr Lutfi Rauf, Deputy for Foreign Policy Affairs, Republic of Indonesia and discussed matters of mutual interest. He also paid homage at the Commonwealth War Memorial, Jakarta. As part of the visit, the Senior Officer and Commanding Officers of First Training Squadron (1 TS) called on the Chief of Staff, Western Fleet Command, Indonesian Navy, Capt Jalaseva - The Officer In-charge of Air Lift Command and Naval Area Commander, Jakarta. A friendly football match with personnel of the Indonesian Navy was organised for the visiting crew. In addition, school children from Gandhi Memorial International School, Jakarta visited ships of 1 TS.
