Rear Admiral Anil Kumar Saxena, NM
Rear Admiral Anil Kumar Saxena graduated in Mechanical Engineering from National Institute of Technology, Nagpur and got commissioned into the Indian Navy in the year 1982. He is also an alumni of prestigious institutes such as Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi, Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad, AA Grechko Naval War Academy, St Petersburg, Russia, College of Naval Warfare, Mumbai, College of Defence Management and Osmania University, Hyderabad.
RAdm Saxena is at present heading the Indian Navy’s design organisation, which is undertaking design of Aircraft carrier, stealth frigates, destroyers and corvettes for the Indian Navy. The officer was deeply involved in design of Shivalik class stealth frigates for about 9 years. These ships are a generation ahead of earlier IN ships and a proud hallmark of the design and technological strides made by the country over the last two decades. He has also served as the Warship Production Superintendent, Mumbai during construction, trials and commissioning of stealth frigates in addition to construction of Kolkata class stealth destroyers.
RAdm Saxena in his earlier appointments has served in Naval Dockyards on both the East and West coasts of India and carried out refits/repairs of many ships and submarines in hull fabrication, outfitting, Dry docks and Hull Preservation departments. As Manager Dry Docks, Naval Dockyard, Mumbai he undertook more than hundred safe docking/undocking of ships and submarines. He also served in Naval Headquarters on the staff of Directorate of Naval Architecture to frame hull related policies on design, construction and repairs and also steered projects on modernization of Naval ships and submarines.
RAdm Saxena is a member of the Institute of Naval Architects, Institute of Marine Engineers (India), Naval Ship Technical Committee(NSTC), Lloyd’s Registry of Shipping(LRS), London (UK) and Project Management Associates (India). He has been appointed by Hon’ble Defence Minister of India, the Permanent Special Invitee to the board meetings of all Defence Public Sector Unit shipyards.
RAdm Saxena has been awarded Nausena Medal (devotion to duty) and twice commended by the Chief of the Naval Staff for his meritorious service.
