Passing Out of Direct Entry Electrical Mechanic (DEEM), Power (P) and Radio (R) Course at INS Valsura

346 trainees of the Direct Entry Electrical Mechanic (DEEM) Power (P) and Radio (R) course including 29 Naviks from the Indian Coast Guard passed out from the portals of INS Valsura on 10 Sep 20 on successful completion of 26 weeks specialisation in Electrical Engineering. In addition to core fundamentals of Electronics and Electrical technology and associated hands-on training at laboratories, this is the maiden course where the trainees were given opportunity to demonstrate their skills by assembling basic semi-conductor components to realise functional electric and electronic circuits, thus reinforcing fundamentals and development of dexterity in handling circuitry and giving them the confidence to successfully handle defects at sea. The training curriculum also included calibrated grooming and mentoring exercises, aimed to instil Naval Core values and mould young novices into competent sea warriors. Commodore Ajay Patney, Commanding Officer, INS Valsura reviewed the impressive Passing Out Parade held at the establishment following all COVID-19 safety protocols. During his address, Commanding Officer complimented the trainees on achieving this momentous milestone in their careers and advised them to stay abreast with contemporary technological developments in the fields of Electrical, Electronics and Information Technology. Shubham Kumar Behera, DEEM(R) was awarded the Admiral Ramnath Trophy for ‘Best All Round Sailor’. Yuvraj Singh, DEEM(P) was adjudged the ‘Best Naval Trainee (Power)’ and Balram Singh, DEEM(R) was adjudged the ‘Best Naval Trainee (Radio)’. The award for ‘Best Coast Guard Trainee (Power)’ went to Deepak Chauhan, NVK(P) and the award for ‘Best Coast Guard Trainee (Radio)’ went to Utpal Maity, NVK(R).
