FOC-in-C SNC and President NWWA (SR) visited INS Valsura

FOC-in-C SNC and President NWWA (SR) visited INS Valsura from 16 to 18 December 2019. During his visit, the C-in-C reviewed the progress of various infrastructure projects and training facilities of the establishment. He was briefed on various initiatives taken by the unit in the niche fields of Artificial Intelligence and Big Data Analytics and was also shown the contemporary radars and Electronic Warfare system recently commissioned. Later, he inaugurated the married accommodation blocks Megh Nath and KS Raju for Master Chief Petty Officers and Leading sailors respectively, and handed over the keys of the new quarters to the first occupants. The blocks have been named in honour of Megh Nath Sangal, MCEAP-II, Vir Chakra and KS Raju, LEMP, Vir Chakra, who were martyred onboard INS Khukri during the 1971 Indo-Pak War. To ensure sustainable green cover and evolve cleaner technologies for recycling water, a Miyawaki type garden and Phyto Microbial Filtration (PMF) facility to treat raw sewage was also inaugrated. President NWWA (SR) was hosted to a Milan organised by NWWA (Valsura), where she shared her thoughts on Women Empowerment and Community Living. Later, she rechristened the State Highway connecting INS Valsura to Jamnagar city as Maharani Gulab Kunverba Necklace and dedicated it to the populace of Jamnagar in the presence of FOC-in-C, Shri Ravi Shankar, IAS, District Collector (Jamnagar) and Shri Satish A Patel, IAS, Municipal Commissioner of Jamnagar Municipal Corporation. As part of this project, Valsura collaborated with Gujarat Maritime Board for installation of LED street lights. FOC-in-C and President NWWA (SR) also witnessed the colourful Valsura Day celebrations.
