20th Anniversary of Kargil Vijay Diwas

As part of activities to commemorate the 20th Anniversary of Kargil Vijay Diwas, INS Valsura and the Sindh Brigade of the Indian Army, in association with Jamnagar Municipal Corporation, conducted a Band Concert at Lakhota lake, Jamnagar on 24 July 2019. The performance by the Indian Navy Band and Army Pipe Band comprised stirring martial music and patriotic tunes. The venue was open to general public and the concert received an overwhelming response from the citizens of Jamnagar. Dignitaries from sister Services, Sashastra Seema Bal, Jamnagar Municipal Corporation, Gujarat Police, NCC Cadets and school children witnessed and enjoyed the music played by the Army and Navy Band. The slogans ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ and ‘Vande Mataram’ reverberated in the Lake area during the concert. In addition to the band concert, a tri-services team of 117 personnel from Indian Navy, Indian Army and Indian Air Force participated in a 80 kms cycling expedition from Military Station, Jamnagar to Sainik School, Balachadi and back. The expedition was utilized by the cyclists to interact with civil populace and spread awareness about the role of Armed Forces and valiant feats of the martyrs who had made the supreme sacrifice in defending the nation's borders. A Blood Donation Camp was also organised on 26 July 2019, in association with Guru Govind Singh Hospital as an outreach activity. This noble cause received an enthusiastic response from both uniformed and civilian personnel of all three Services based at Jamnagar, leading to over 300 units of blood being collected.
