Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan at Kochi

In pursuance with the Prime Minister’s Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan, the personnel of Naval base Kochi undertook cleanup drive at different places in the city on 01 and 02 October 16  to commemorate Gandhi Jayanti as a tribute to the ideals of the Father of the nation.

Waterfront areas were targeted for cleanup drive this year as ecology preservation initiative. Women and children of Naval personnel joined the officers and men in contributing towards the cleanup activities as part of collective social responsibility. All the waterfront areas surrounding the Naval base as well as internal areas were cleaned and the garbage bifurcated into bio degradable and non-degradable waste for suitable disposal. Tree plantation was also carried out towards sustenance of the green initiatives of the Indian Navy. Certain areas at Marine Drive were also cleaned up by a group of naval personnel.

On 01 October 16 , about a hundred service and civilian personnel of  Naval Ship Repair Yard  including women carried out cleanup of the Fort Kochi beach under the leadership of  Rear Admiral S Nedunchezhian. The activity was inaugurated by Shri KJ Maxy, MLA .
