Medical Camp conducted at Atchutapuram

As a part of Navy Day celebrations, a free Medical Camp was organised at Icha Foundation, Konde Karle Village Atchutapuram by INHS Kalyani, the premier hospital of Eastern Naval Command, on 28 October, 2016. The camp was inaugurated by Rear Admiral Pradeep Rana, VSM Chief Staff Officer (Personal & Administration), ENC in presence of Surgeon Commodore Rahul Ray, VSM Commanding Officer, INHS Kalyani.

The medical camp covered the fields of Pediatrics, Dermatology, Dental, Ophthalmology, general OPD and included psychological counselor and on-the-spot laboratory investigations. There was an overwhelming response to the camp wherein over 800 personnel were screened by all the specialists. Free medicines were disbursed to the inmates of the Foundation and other participants. Special arrangements were made for children with special needs. On the sidelines of the medical camp, lectures were conducted for hygiene and sanitation in support of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan and naval personnel cleaned the surrounding area.

Icha Foundation is a non-profit NGO founded by Mrs Madhu Tugnait, which provides a stable environment to orphans, single women and elderly people. Specialised trainers also impart training to the residents of the foundation on creating different crafts to help them become active members of the society while contributing to the preservation of traditional arts and crafts in the region.

INHS Kalyani is a premier multi-specialty hospital of the Navy which is being upgraded to a 600 bed super-specialty Command Hospital.
