Healthy Baby Show-2016 at the Varunika Auditorium, Chanakya Bagh

The Naval Wives Welfare Association (NWWA), under the aegis of its Aarogya Group, organised a Healthy Baby Show on 03 Oct 2016 at the Varunika Auditorium, Chanakya Bagh. This annual event is a programme aimed at screening infants and young children for disease and malnutrition, while also acting as a Health Education Forum for young mothers of the naval fraternity. This year, 38 children participated in the event, and were initially screened by a senior paediatrician accompanied by members of the Aarogya group.

The screening of the children was also accompanied by the 'Smart Moms' contest, wherein mothers of the participating children were evaluated for their knowledge of common childhood diseases, their prevention and home remedies.

Nursing Cadets of the College of Nursing, Army Hospital (Research and Referral) staged a one-act play bearing messages related to immunisation, breast feeding and disease prevention, Mrs. Reena Lamba, President NWWA presided over the function and gave away the prizes. While addressing the audience, she pointed out that the Indian Navy provides an enabling environment for holistic growth of the wards of Naval personnel so that they become valuable citizens of the country. She also emphasised the virtues of good parenting in shaping the future of our children.
