At an impressive Passing Out Parade held at Naval Institute of Aeronautical Technology, (NIAT) at the Naval Base on 14 Jul 12, Ten Officers including four Officers from Indian Coast Guard completed the Aeronautical Specialisation Course. The Parade was reviewed by Rear Admiral S Madhusudanan, Admiral Superintendent, Naval Ship Repair Yard, Kochi. The officers underwent 52 weeks of training in which comprised of basic aeronautical subjects and practical training on different types of aircraft.

Dy Comdt D Jayakumar stood first in the order of merit amongst Air Engineer Officers and was awarded HAL trophy. Lt Sheshnath Mishra stood first in the order of merit amongst Air Electrical Officers and was awarded the Chief of Naval Staff Trophy along with the Director General Coast Guard Trophy for the best All Rounder. INS Venduruthy trophy for the best project was awarded to the syndicate comprising Dy Comdt D Jayakumar and Dy Comdt AS Tanwar.

In his address to the Passing Out course, Rear Admiral Madhusudanan emphasized the importance of their responsibility in the wake of acquisition of modern aircraft by the Navy and the impending induction of the second aircraft carrier Vikramaditya. He expressed satisfaction that the Officers were being provided high quality training which enabled them to earn BTech and MTech degrees in Aeronautics. The Admiral also dwelt upon the importance of developing self confidence through professional competence, currency with the latest technologies, courage of conviction, commitment to service and above all leadership by personal example.

The passing out parade which was conducted by Captain Deepak Bansal, Director of Naval Institute of Aeronautical Technology was witnessed by a large gathering of senior officers, parents of the passing out course and other guests.
