Indian Navy joins Flood Relief Operations in Sri Lanka - INS Shardul
Indian Naval Ship Shardul entered Colombo on 28 May 2017 and handed over relief material to the Sri Lankan authorities. The Foreign Minister of Sri Lanka and the High Commissioner of India visited the ship and received the medicines, packaged water and relief material. Team Shardul thereafter spanned out to the interiors of Kalutara district and other flood affected areas of the Western Province and distributed medicines, food and relief material. In addition, Indian Naval personnel helped evacuate affected citizens to safety and also provided medical care.
