YAI Senior Nationals 2021(IN-MDL Cup) kickstarted at INWTC, Mumbai

On 01 September 2021, Senior Nationals 2021 organised by the Yachting Association of India, also called Indian Navy - Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders (IN-MDL) Cup, kickstarted at Indian Navy Watermanship Training Centre, Mumbai INWTC in an impressive Opening Ceremony presided over by Rear Adm Gurcharan Singh, Chief Staff Officer (Operations), WNC. Top Indian yachtsmen and women, including Tokyo 2020 Olympians Nethra Kumaran, Vishnu Sarvanan, Varun Thakkar and KC Ganapathy, from 13 premier sailing clubs across India, will participate in the event over the next five days. In all, over 116 participants, including a record number of 28 yachtswomen, have registered for the event. Three new classes of boats - Kiteboarding, Wind Foiling (iQ foil) and NACRA 17 are being introduced in these Nationals. A Sail Parade of 75 sailing boats was also conducted off INWTC on the inaugural day to commemorate 75 years of India’s Independence, as part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav construct.
