World Environment Day Celebrations at Eastern Naval Command

World Environment Day was celebrated in Eastern Naval Command(ENC) to stimulate awareness and action for the protection of the Environment on 05 Jun 20. In keeping with this year’s theme  ‘Celebrate Biodiversity’, the Indian Navy is committed to increasing the green cover over its area of responsibility with a variety of plants. In addition, awareness campaigns that included displays of banners to sensitise personnel on the issues plaguing the environment, photography competition and carpooling were undertaken. A total of 2025 saplings were planted across various naval units under ENC with active participation from the naval community, adhering to laid down COVID-19 safety protocols including social distancing.  A plantation drive was also undertaken at Visakhapatnam by Vice Admiral Atul Kumar Jain, PVSM, AVSM, VSM, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, ENC to commemorate the occasion.
