Western Fleet (WF) Overseas Deployment (OSD)

The Western Fleet ships comprising Mumbai, Trishul, Tarkash and Aditya with RAdm RB Pandit, Fleet Commander Western Fleet embarked were deployed for OSD from 05 April – 14 July 2017. Highlights of the OSD are enumerated below:-

(a) Western Fleet ships comprising Mumbai, Trishul, Tarkash and Aditya visited Souda Bay, Greece and exercised with the Hellenic (Greek) Navy. Mumbai, Trishul and Aditya visited Toulon (France), Valencia (Spain), Alexandria (Egypt), Haifa (Israel) and Jeddah (Saudi Arabia) before arriving at Mumbai on 27 May 2017. The ships also participated in Ex – Varuna with the French Navy.

Tarkash exercising with Nigerian Navy Ships Unity & Centenary

(b) IN ship Tarkash visited ports at UK, Portugal, Morocco, Nigeria, Angola, Namibia, South Africa and Mauritius, as part of the Western Fleet OSD. The ship returned Mumbai on 14 July 2017 after a three month long OSD wherein the ship exercised with various navies and also participated in advanced level bilateral exercises with the French Navy (Ex – Varuna) and the Royal Navy (Ex Konkan).
