Swarnim Vijay Varsh celebrations at Vijayawada

As a part of Swarnim Vijay Varsh celebrations, Victory Flame Swarnim Vijay Mashaal arrived in Vijayawada with a military convoy from ENC on 08 September 2021. The Victory Flame was received at Raj Bhavan by the Hon'ble Governor of Andhra Pradesh, Shri Biswa Bhusan Harichandan. The ceremonial function was attended by Commodore MG Raju, NM, Naval Officer-in-Charge (Andhra Pradesh), Brigadier V Venkata Reddy, VSM (Retd) Director Sainik Welfare Board Andhra Pradesh, State and District Officials, 1971 War Veterans and Veer Naris. The Hon'ble Governor felicitated 1971 War Gallantry Awardees, War Veterans and Veer Naris on the occasion. Hon'ble Governor lauded their glorious service to the nation. The ‘Victory Flame’ of Swarnim Vijay Varsh, which was formally inducted at ENC on 03 September 2021 is visiting major districts in Andhra Pradesh to felicitate the 1971 War Veterans. The Victory Flame will now be proceeding to Nalgonda before arriving at Hyderabad. This year marks 50th anniversary of victory of the Indian Armed Forces in 1971 war and is being observed as ‘Swarnim Vijay Varsh’ in honour of the Indian Soldiers who laid down their lives in line of duty. To commemorate this occasion, four victory flames were lit up by the Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi at National War Memorial, New Delhi on 16 December 2020. The four victory flames commenced their journey through four cardinal directions traveling across the country through villages of the soldiers who were a part of 1971 war.
