Stamp Exhibition and My Stamp Drive - INS Valsura

A ‘Stamp Exhibition’ and ‘My Stamp Drive’ was conducted at INS Valsura, with an objective to promote Philately amongst the younger generation. ‘Stamp Exhibition’ was inaugurated by DGND (SSG) on 13 July 2019. The exhibition comprised of 40,000 stamps from India and 29 different countries. Some vintage and exquisite stamps released by Indian Postal Service from 1891 were part of the collection showcased by Shri Ashok D Pandya, an avid philatelist from Jamnagar. Large number of officers, sailors, defence civilians and students of Kendriya Vidyalaya visited the exhibition and displayed keen interest in the collection. ‘My Stamp Drive’ was conducted on 18 July 2019 under the aegis of Philately Bureau, Jamnagar Head Post Office. Under this program, each Valsurian could get a thumb nail image of choice printed on a template sheet of postage stamp. Most of the personnel chose the template sheet of Indian Armed Forces to make ‘My Stamp’. During the ceremony, the first ‘My Stamp’ printed on Indian Navy template was handed over by Shri TN Malek, Superintendent of Post Offices (SPO), Jamnagar to Commanding Officer, INS Valsura. Shri TN Malek, SPO, Jamnagar and philatelist Shri Ashok D Pandya were also felicitated for their support in conduct of both the events. Over 300 Valsurians printed their personalised sheet of postage stamps through the ‘My Stamp Drive’.
